Plans for Bromley "career college" announced

Building work is due to start on the UK's first hospitality, food and enterprise "career college" in Bromley.

The facility will be set over three floors at Bromley College’s Orpington Campus. It will provide training facilities, kitchens, classrooms and a student-run restaurant and coffee bar.

Vocational and academic study at the college is available for those wishing to pursue a career in hospitality or catering, combining study with core curriculum GCSEs.

The UK’s “career college” concept is currently being piloted, and is influenced by similar academic models in New York and Holland.

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “Giving young Londoners the chance to get the skills they need to thrive is at the very top of my agenda, so it’s great that Bromley College are opening this innovative “career college” in the capital, giving young people the opportunity to learn a trade.” 

Bromley College will hold an open day on 28 April, whch will provide more information about courses at the facility.
