Assets to Signature at Biggin Hill

by James Renoux-Wood Mon 14 April 2014, 12:41 pm

Aviation company Signature Flight Support has bought the fixed-base operator (FBO) assets of the Jets aviation facility at London Biggin Hill airport.

The Jets firm will continue to carry out aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations at the airport, but it will now be owned and operated by Signature.

Signature adds Biggin Hill to its existing operations at London airports, which include Luton, Heathrow and Gatwick.

The facility is ranked the third largest for business and general aviation in the UK in terms of airport traffic.

Mariaq Sastre, president and chief operating officer at Signature, said: “Signature’s acquisition of the London Biggin Hill location brings even more choice for our customers when travelling to London.

“The proximity of Biggin Hill to the City of London offers significant time-saving advantages and airport choice during peak travel times to and from London. We look forward to welcoming customers to Signature Biggin Hill.

The sale will allow the Jet group to focus on expanding its MRO operations, according to managing director, Dave Jackson.

He said: “The sale of the FBO division will complement our MRO service as we anticipate that the presence of the new brand will bring us more business in the future, as well as attracting new aircraft and operators to the airport as a whole.

“We are confident that our existing customers will value the new offering and that we will facilitate a smooth transition.”
